Gridheart
A pixel-art action roguelite where your health is a shape, and every weapon carves a different pattern out of it.
A browser build you can play now. Expect a slice of the game, not a finished one.

The problem or experience
Health bars are a number. In Gridheart every character has a grid of health cells, and a weapon's shape is placed on that grid in the direction of the blow, so where you stand changes how much damage lands.
Who it's for
Anyone who likes action roguelites and odd mechanics, and game developers curious about shape-based damage.
My contribution
It is my project, made in Godot 4.3 and exported to the web. Weapons, armor plating and body-shape growth between rooms are the core mechanics.
What works today
- A sword, spear, hammer, axe, dagger and bow each take a different pattern from the target's grid.
- After a room you choose a growth shape, rotate it and attach it to your own grid.
- Mouse, keyboard aim and attack-in-direction controls all work, and you can switch mid-fight.
Limitations
- It is a slice of a game. Content and balance are still changing.
- I checked that the hosted build loads, not every room or weapon.

Updates
Gridheart: aim and swing from the keyboard
Gridheart can now be played without a mouse. Arrow keys or IJKL aim and attack in that direction, and F attacks the way you are facing.
How you can get involved
Play it and tell me where it breaks.
- Tell me which weapon felt best and which felt pointless.
- If you make pixel art or design combat, I'd like to hear what you'd change.
